“What’s happening with all the scaffolding around the tower?!”

Don’t worry, it’s not falling down! All our normal services and activities are carrying on as usual.

St Lawrence Church building is a Grade 1 listed building, and although we receive no funding from the government, it is church members’ responsibility to care for and maintain the building. In this case this project is completely funded by the kindness and generosity of the late Gwyneth Thomas, a long-time member of St Lawrence Church who died in 2022.

Gwyneth was known for her kindness and prayer, her support for Gospel ministry across the world, and her consistent faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You can read more about trusting in Jesus here – what we believe. Why not come along to a service on Sunday – 9am or 10:30am – and see what it’s like – you’ll be surprised!

The current project on the tower is aiming to complete the following:

  • The repair and conservation of the stone surrounds to the windows, string courses and quoins.
  • The removal of the glass in the west windows to a glaziers workshop for conservation and repair.
  • The repair of the brick walls.
  • The carpentry repair of the belfry louvres and panelled access door.
