“Love All!”
In tennis, that’s the score at the start of every game. A clean slate, waiting for the excitement that is to come. Perhaps you’re on your way to Wimbledon, and planning to use the Park-and-Ride? It’s just around the corner from St Lawrence Church in Morden Park.

It would be great to have a clean slate in life, wouldn’t it, with God? Instead, we’ve stacked the game against ourselves by ignoring him all the time. Imagine a tennis game where the players ignored the umpire’s calls? OK, if it was McEnroe playing, it might make for a more peaceful experience. But otherwise it would just be chaos and anarchy. So it’s no wonder our lives end up in such a mess, is it?

This is why Jesus Christ made it his mission to rescue us. In the Bible there’s a verse that explains what Jesus’ purpose was: “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (That’s in John’s Gospel, chapter 3 verse 16)
There it is: Love All. God loved everyone in the world. He loved you so much that Jesus Christ the Son of God came to earth and died on the cross. That death is how our slate is wiped clean – the score is zeroed, and God sees us as if we had lived perfect lives like Jesus did.
